nSATURDAY 1.26.08nFakemannSai U DromnThe Canon Logicn9:30pm doors / $6 / All AgesnThe Tank: 279 Church St @ White (A/C to Canal St)nwww.myspace.com/thetanknycnwww.thetanknyc.orgnnFAKEMANnFakeman has been kicking around the music scene in Westchester County and NYC for seven years, alternating between periods of extreme activity and recording seclusion. Through a multitude of lineup changes, Fakeman has maintained a strong personality. More than just a band. Not content to be a message and a song. They play a noisy, sloppy, dance-inducing, distorted, sometimes minimal, very intentional brand of rock and roll. Fakeman is not a fan of labels. Listen to what you want, because you want to.nwww.myspace.com/fakemannnSAI U DROMnSai U Drom is a band from everywhere, currently based in the Albany region. It's cheap. They play "poetic pirate gypsy folkin rock". It is exactly as it sounds. Some of them were in sludge bands some in classical, some in bluegrass, some in industrial, some in gypsy. Mix it all up and add clever poetry and you have Sai u drom. They are acoustic minus the turntables. There is a guitarist, mandolinist, bassist, noisemaker, turntablist/dj, drummernand sometimes another guitarist. There can be anywhere from 5 to 9 members, a multimedia screen and an assortment of props and noisemakers.nwww.myspace.com/theendalldynasty nnTHE CANON LOGICnIn an otherwise stale sea of power chords and bands all cashing in on the same old formula, the scene would kill for a breath of fresh air. Enter Philadelphia's The Canon Logic...and a wave of harmony-drenched, poppy tunes. TCL sounds almost like something your parents would have listened, to mashed with synth beats and harmonies even the Beach Boys would give a nod to. Taking cues from everyone from the Beatles to Radiohead to your old Casio's pre-packaged synth songs, The Canon Logic's sound is entirely refreshing and hauntingly familiar.nwww.myspace.com/thecanonlogicnnn

New on the scene is Mod Rocket, a straight up alternative rock group of smart, teenage true blue ladies who formed the band when they were in junior high school. Alex, the guitarist and youngest member, recently won the Lower East Side guitar competition hosted by the bar Max Fish. The 16-year-old blew the crowd away with her skills and spirit.nmyspace.com/modrocketn
