After many line up changes, they have now settled on this line-up and recorded their debut release. With Comparisons to The Jesus And Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Drop Nineteen, they have been described as Texas' own answer to shoegaze: Starrgaze. Ringo Deathstarr have been creating quite a stir on the live front with blistering volume and breathtaking performances of the short, adrenaline-fuelled variety, so much so that they've secured themselves support slots with the mighty Dandy Warhols.nwww.myspace.com/ringodeathstarrnnDEAD LEAF ECHOnSsinger, guitarist and songwriter LG formed Dead Leaf Echo over the winter of 2005 in his tiny bedroom in Manhattan Valley. The songs were all done on a 4-track recorder and then passed around at local bars. Others came and a stripclub offered their lounge as place to perform. Now a year later, Dead Leaf Echo has evolved with new members, and returned from the studio with their 1st album, "Faint Violet Whiff," released on Year of the Gallon Records in November 2006. Mixed by Jeff Thall (John Cale, Bryan Ferry, Swimmer) and mastered by Fred Kevorkian (White Stripes, Walkmen, Iggy Pop) it was recorded at 111 (Alexa Ray Joel, Torture Sermon) and A Bloody Good Record studios. It features 5 songs of the desperation and desires of man incarnate. Also featured on the album will be a remix by The Invisible Kid (Sneaker Pimps, Elika, Soundpool) and an old super 8 video for the song "Walking Away." DLE begins touring the east coast this fall.nwww.myspace.com/deadleafechonnVIRGO LOVES CANCERnVirgo Loves Cancer is part of a growing revival of the shoegaze subgenre of alternative rock. Shining center stage are the textured vocals of singer and bass player Charlie Kindred. Charlie's timbre developed after her lungs were crushed in a horrific car crash. The resulting throaty breath style became her signature style and was soon heard on TV shows such as Dawson's Creek, Party of Five and MTV Made. Sharing the limelight with Charlie is VLC Guitarist Joe Canone and drummer Stacey Lee. Virgo Loves Cancer was recently named a breaking band by NME magazine in which their music was described as "the tunes Primal Scream made before discovering devil dust, only fronted by annasthmatic fairy."nwww.myspace.com/virgolovescancer |
