Admission: $8nnCruel and Unusual is Keith Farnan’s first Solo Stand-up show since he stopped going to work as a Solicitor nearly two years ago. That will form the basis of a separate show entitled “What was I thinking?”. Since that time, he has fashioned himself into an anvil of comedy upon which the steel of audiences hearts are first melted then shaped into horseshoes of laughter and applause. He has also developed an unhealthy propensity for metaphors. nnKeith lived on a ship for the first five years of his life, and an island for most of the rest of his life, but in accordance with irony guidelines, he failed to get into the navy. This lead him to college, law and America where he landed internships in Capital Punishment appeals in Georgia. He then went on to work with O.J. Simpson’s forensics lawyer, Barry Scheck, in New York on the Innocence Project. He started up several student placement programmes, qualified as a solicitor and after a brief career, retired. nnHe wrote the show Words To Drink By, because he couldn’t think of words to live by and didn’t think there should be any words to die by. nnThis is the first Stand-up show of its kind, dealing with Injustice, Death Row, DNA and, well, drinking. nn“If you die telling a story, you’ve lived a good life. If you die listening to a story, you’ve poor taste in drinking companions.” – a.Farnan nn------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nnKeith Farnan has performed across the world, from the Boston International Comedy Festival, to the “Best of the Irish” shows at the Edinburgh Festival and solo shows in Norway and Denmark.nnWhen in Ireland, he is a resident host at the Laughter Lounge in Dublin and performs in Clubs around Ireland and the UK. He has also performed at Festivals including Oxegen and the Killkenny Cat Laughs. nnHe filmed the stand up show, “One Night Stand” for BBC television and the Irish Stand-up show, the “Liffey Laughs” for RTE.nnIn New York, he was recently part of the British (and Irish) Invasion Comedy Tour with Stephen Frost, Nick Wilty and Hattie Hayridge and performed at the Dave Letterman Showcase. He also played the Underground Comedy Festival as well as in clubs and shows across the city nnHe has also written and performed his own comedy, ”The Insomniac Club” for BBC radio. nn“Keith Farnan is an absolute natural. He’s confident, relaxed and fluid – capturing perfectly that spirit of an easy-going, funny conversation with your friends down the pub.” - Chortle nn“Possessed, of energy, focus, and talent” – Hot Pressnn
