World Cares Center rose from the ashes of 9/11, during a time when average New Yorkers volunteered side by side with rescue workers. During our efforts, we witnessed the impact of a collaborative community and the healing effect of food. The Iron Skillet® Cook Off celebrates the spirit of cooperation between first responders and community volunteers during times of crisis.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak we have been at the forefront of the relief effort. We could not have been there without the support from last year’s Iron Skillet Cook Off. Your contributions enabled us to spring into action, providing 30,000 items of personal protective equipment to front-line workers and disaster volunteers, providing training to thousands of responders on the extended use of N95 respirator’s, and developing new COVID-19 safety training for all that is FREE and accessible online 24/7 in English and Spanish languages. In addition, we host bi-monthly round-table meetings for local leaders struggling to access COVID-19 resources and information for their constituents.

As we remain diligent in providing services, we are also looking forward to hosting a new Virtual Iron Skillet Cook Off on October 26, 2020. Things have been tough, there is no doubt. Our small team has been working nonstop since the COVID-19 outbreak. We have taken great measure to consider whether to host the Iron Skillet Cook Off and how. It is you, our greatest supporters, that insisted that we must continue to celebrate the spirit of the Ready Responder and encouraged us to forge a head. Together on October 26th from 6:00pm-7:00pm in a virtual session we will take a moment of respite, celebrate our responders, and of course raise funds to continue our services.

The Iron Skillet® Cook Off is a unique and exciting culinary competition between firefighters from each of New York’s five boroughs tune in for this years virtual twist!

All proceeds benefit World Cares Center’s ability to respond to disasters and crises across the United States and abroad, preparing and equipping community volunteers with training, protective equipment, and critical life-saving skills and supplies.
