Services are free and designed to support communities affected by disaster, emergencies, or trauma, including Lower Manhattan residents, workers, students, and businesses, disaster responders and volunteers, recovery workers, returning soldiers from Afghanistan or Iraq and their families, Gulf Hurricane evacuees or case managers and clinicians serving disaster affected clients.

| Disaster Preparation & Trauma Mitigation Training Workshops | |
| Disaster Volunteering I (DV I) | |
|
DVI is a training workshop for those who are interested in becoming disaster volunteers or responders. Participants will learn more about disaster and emergency work and will be able to evaluate whether they are ready, able and prepared to become volunteers. They will leave equipped with the keys to being an effective volunteer and lessons on how to stay emotionally strong and healthy while doing disaster work. |

| Disaster Volunteering II (DV II) | |

DV II, while building on the skills presented during DV I, introduces new concepts to help participants understand the expectations placed on them as volunteers. These include the lifecycle of a disaster and the all-hazards approach to disaster management. Participants also learn about various organizational systems including Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), the National Response Plan, the Federal Incident Command System and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. |

WCC provides various levels of infrastructure through its Umbrella of Support to grassroots organizations that serve communities affected by 9/11 and other disasters, to help ensure continuity of services to these groups' constituents.
