International Support - Haiti
After the devastating earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince in January 2010, World Cares Center was called upon by the Haitian community to respond. WCC immediately began coordinating deployment efforts to provide disaster relief training to local populations and provide desperately needed relief goods to meet surge capacity requirements. With its 100% native Haitian team stationed in Port-au-Prince, WCC has conducted more than 8 relief deployments to the island nation. |

WCC is also providing its signature disaster relief trainings to Haitian graduate students attending Metropolitan College of New York so that they can help prepare their communities on topics such as hurricane preparedness, maternal and neonatal health, camp safety, and community preparedness.

WCC is committed to furthering the long term recovery efforts throughout Haiti. To assist in these efforts, WCC provides a variety of culturally relevant training to communities upon request. Additionally, WCC offers ongoing communications and networking support through its Ready Responders Network which connects communities through web-based information sharing. World Cares Center also provides youth-centric training and support to orphanages in Haiti through its bi-annual Kids4Kids campaign. Kids4Kids combines educational materials with recreational items to support children in the Greater Port-au-Prince Area. |
As a registered 501c3 charitable organization, World Cares Center’s mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering inherent in accidents and disasters by empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and training local citizens, agencies, and leaders to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergency situations.
